FOOTSTOOL MEMBER CARE RETREAT
Feb 19-22, 2025
Footstool is offering our 9th Annual Member Care Retreat from February 19th to 22nd in Gyeonggi-do, South Korea.
The Member Care Retreat is a time for those serving cross-culturally in Asia to rest, reflect, and be rejuvenated alongside others who are also serving. Our desire is to provide spiritual, emotional, and physical care for all attendees so that they may return to their fields renewed and refreshed.
The retreat is free of charge to those serving in Asia, but spaces are limited.
FAQ
Is the retreat really free?
Yes! We cover the transportation expenses from Seoul to the retreat site, retreat accommodations, and all meals.
Why do I need to pay a Holding Deposit?
Previously there have been last-minute cancellations that have caused financial inconveniences to Footstool and prevented other applicants from attending. Therefore, a KRW 50,000 Holding Deposit per applicant/family unit is required and will be returned at the time of the retreat. If you are a no-show or cancel because of foreseeable reasons (as deemed by the Footstool Team), the deposit will be non-refundable, going into a Travel Assistance Fund for future retreat applicants. More details will be on the Registration Form.
Is there childcare?
There is a complete children’s program with songs, games, crafts, and lessons for ages 3-12, a complete teen program for ages 13-18, and child care for infants through 2 years old. Child care is available during all sessions and during free time.
What are the accommodations like?
The retreat is held at a retreat center outside of Seoul. Families will stay in private rooms with their own bathrooms and singles stay in shared rooms of 3 people with bathrooms.
Who can attend the retreat?
The retreat is for English-speaking cross-cultural workers serving in Asia.
Why am I being asked to fill out an application to attend the retreat?
We have instituted an application process for the retreat to ensure that we can maintain the safety and security of all retreat attendees.
What is the daily schedule like?
The daily schedule consists of morning worship and a speaker session followed by lunch, free time in which you can choose from the available activities, dinner, and an evening worship and speaker session.
My financial situation prevents me from attending the retreat. Do you provide financial assistance for transportation costs?
Yes. However, Travel Assistance Fund is budgeted per retreat, so funding is limited. Financial assistance amounts vary and are determined on a case-by-case basis, based on need and availability of funds. All applications for financial assistance will be reviewed and carefully considered. Be advised that applying for travel assistance does not guarantee it will be granted. You must first apply for the retreat in order to apply for travel assistance. The Travel Assistance Fund application will be on the final registration form.
Is there a penalty for no-shows/cancellations?
Yes.
Will there be transportation from the airport to the retreat this year?
More information on transportation will be posted shortly.
